Fast4Food – what you save can feed someone else

Fast4Food is an initiative of Stichting LIGHT that connects people who choose to fast with people who do not have enough to eat because of poverty. The idea is simple: donate the money you save on food while fasting. That money helps provide meals for people in need.

The project stands for sharing, compassion and practical support. People fast for different beliefs and personal reasons. Fast4Food brings them together around one shared goal: using what they save to feed someone else.

From a personal initiative to a global movement

Fast4Food began by giving away food through a church. Today, its pilot project in Nairobi uses the money saved to prepare meals for families living on the streets. Every month, dozens of local volunteers help provide food for hundreds of people. According to the website, Stichting LIGHT coordinates this with almost no overhead costs.

The ambition is to expand this approach from Nairobi to other places around the world. Through a WhatsApp community, participants can share experiences, support one another and follow new initiatives.

Take part in your own way

Participation is voluntary, with no obligations. People who fast can decide how much they save and wish to contribute. Those who do not fast can also support the project by making a donation.

Fast4Food shows how a personal choice can contribute to a shared purpose: food, care and hope for people facing hunger.
